2025

What is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19th, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas with news that the Civil War had ended and all slaves were free. Join us for a week-long celebration this year across Bethlehem, Easton, and Allentown. Programming will include flag raisings, food experiences, a parade, music, art and more.

Selina Winchester Scholarship Fund

Selina Winchester’s tireless work uplifted countless individuals, and her dedication to justice and opportunity embodied the very spirit of Juneteenth; her impact cannot be overstated. She served as the Volunteer Coordinator for Juneteenth Lehigh Valley to elevate, celebrate, and educate the general population on the holiday. In recognition of her extraordinary contributions, we are honored to present the Selina Winchester Juneteenth Lehigh Valley Ambassador Scholarship. This scholarship will continue to support and inspire young leaders, reflecting Selina’s lifelong mission of empowerment and change. Through this initiative, we will preserve and expand the opportunities she championed, ensuring that future generations benefit from the path she paved. Though words can never fully express the depth of our gratitude for Selina’s service, we hope this recognition serves as a lasting tribute to her life’s work. Her legacy will continue to inspire, uplift, and transform lives – just as she did so selflessly throughout her lifetime.
